Andy O'Connor of Pitchfork magazine praised the album's haunting, melancholic nature, and highlighted the vocals as particularly effective in evoking a bleak atmosphere. Longing was met with generally positive reviews. In 2012, they signed with Profound Life Records and released their first full-length album, Longing. The demo cememnts the band as playing a more sorrow type of doom metal. The band released their first demo in 2011 as an independent band. Yet, the way the bass is played is in a very specific way to make it sound full, more like a guitar and a bass. The band is very minimalistic, only featuring drums and a six string bass.
