I also liked the fact that a whole ream of paper can fit into the paper tray, and there are no long trays hanging out. I haven't done enough printing yet to exhaust the small toner cartridge that came with it, but replacement toner cartridges are relatively inexpensive and easy to change out. The scanner feature is easy to use, and the scans are excellent.
The Brother (inexpensive) just reverses a stepper motor and does so quietly. I will admit that the print definition is not as good as my previous laser printers.ĭouble-sided printing was smoother than on my previous (expensive) Lexmark, which went through a lot of mechanical monkey motion with lots of clacking to get the 2nd side printed. I have found the graphics printing to be quite good, although another review had mentioned that printing graphics on the Brother was lacking. My old Lexmark allowed two independent queues on the two iMacs. I still gave the printer 5 stars, because this seems to be a software problem, not a printer problem.

This allows both iMac to have access to the Borther printer, but the primary Mac has to be ON or the 2nd iMac has no access.
I never could get an independent print queue set up on the second iMac, but had to enable the SHARE feature on the first iMac.
